A mark of distinction

Every year, hundreds of major PC titles are released and here at FiringSquad we try to focus on the ones that make a splash - be it by hype and marketing, or word-of-mouth. While many of these titles succeed or impress us, few combine the innovation, product quality and (most importantly) honest-to-goodness fun necessary to get an Editor's Choice Award.

Since judging games is much more subjective than reviewing hardware, a gaming Editor's Choice isn't always a guarantee that this is one of the best games for you. What it does say is that if you're buying a game, this is as good a choice as you can make.

How do you select an Editor's Choice?

The hardware staff review benchmarks and features together before making a decision. The games crew make the choice alone, based on their experience, critical views and even gut feeling. A game earning an Editor's Choice doesn't just impress the reviewer, it instills a sense of wonder in him whenever he plays the game, and that would be often!
