Buyxg.com has the 965 listed for $618, the same as the 940 -- do you think they'll honor it?

I want AMD to survive for the competition it offers to Intel. Prior to AMD's rise during the Athlon era, Intel had no incentive to compete in pricing, and I have no desire to return to those days.

On the bright side, now looks like a great time to buy AMD stock: you're not looking at losing a lot of cash, since they'll either be bought out if they flounder too far, or they'll pull out of the slump -- either way, you're looking at a fair likelihood of not being totally hosed.

When's the last time we had a top 10 PC game sales list that did not include the word "sims" in it?

Actually, I'm one of the people giving Vanguard a shot. I was in the mood for some MMO lovin', and I'm sick and tired of WoW. I'm enjoying the new races, locations, classes, and it's nice to be in a game isn't (yet) overrun with max-level 12-year-olds.

However, I agree that it's buggy and rushed, and the developers even admitted they sent it out the door months early. Regardless, I'm having a good time so far, and I hope they keep sending out updates to fix the problems. Besides, what MMO wasn't buggy and unbalanced at release?

I hope it works out, since Turn-Based games are so rare anymore, but I'm worried about *why* the development rights were pulled.

Derek seems to overdevlop his concepts while underdeveloping his actual games. I keep hoping for a good game from him, but they've never matched up to the grandiose ideas he's presented.

I don't even care about great graphics, I just want one of his games to live up to his grand idealizations.

Does anyone have a picture of the ads? Are offensive in and of themselves, or are they just bitching because of the game?

I enjoyed the first Postal game -- I even beta tested. I still have my T-shirt and signed poster from the team.

The demo for the second just didn't catch my attention the same way.

I think it's a dangerous precedent for a court to preview a game's content before it goes on the shelves. It smacks of the government having to give the "okay" for anything to get published. Additionally, it fuels rabid zealots like Jack, who use the legal process to harass and impede legitimate commerce.

Jack Thompson continues to give the legal profession a bad name -- it's lawyers like him who make people look down upon the rest of us.

"...allowing people to get a free download of a movie when they purchase the same movie in a DVD version at one of their brick-and-mortar stores."

Umm . . . why in the hell would I want to download a movie I just bought the DVD for? I thought the point of downloading movies was to avoid having to get a disc (and presumably make movies cheaper).

Of course games are to blame -- it seems like every time a school shooting happens, the media is quick to say "He played video games, so that must be why he did it."

In this day and age, what teenager doesn't play video games? I'm sure even the rock-headed athletes enjoy their murder simulators :)

By the way -- first post, bitches!

I still think the mandatory inclusion of Blue-Ray is ludicrous, as it has nothing to do with being a good game console. Sony should at the very least offer a Blue-Ray free alternative, but I'm sure they're so wrapped up in it that they'll never get loose.

Honestly, how many people bought a PS2 just because it was also a DVD player? For how many people was it even a major consideration? Most people buy game consoles to PLAY GAMES, not make waffles or watch the Wing Commander movie at High resolution.

It would be nice if my next-gen console would scrub my bathtub for me, but I won't pay $200 extra for that functionality. As RailFoxen pointed out, I could get both competing next-gen consoles for the price of one PS3 -- is there even a real choice to make?

» Price also matters
Another difference between PCs and consoles is that PCs have been going down in price, whereas consoles have been going up. For some reason, Sony thinks EVERYONE wants to shell out the extra money for a feature most of us probably don't care about (Blu-Ray). Oh well, I guess it's going to be 360 or Wii now . . .
