DVDs and music CDs are priced far more fairly and rationally compared to games. For DVDs in particular, I can't see why anyone would want to waste the time needed to pirate a movie compared to just paying $15-20 to buy a copy in the store. Music is also priced more fairly than games, and for music by artists you really enjoy I can't see any reason to bother with the hassle of pirating it. Games are already too expensive, and if the price increased, it would cause some people to give up gaming altogether, others would decrease the number of games they buy, and others would resort to piracy (especially for games that aren't on their "must-have" list).
Publishers need to decrease the prices of games to expand the market of gamers, increase the number of titles that gamers purchase, and reduce the incentive for resorting to piracy. Flag this | Edit this post |
