» P5N32-E SLi PLUS = 650i SLi
I'm not sure where you pulled this stuff about the P5N32-E SLi PLUS being based on the 680i SLi chipset, but every other site disagrees, including Asus's site. The specifications page clearly states that the P5N32-E SLi is 680i and the P5N32-E SLi PLUS is 650i.

And the price of the 680i-based P5N32-E SLi is at least 30$ HIGHER than the price of the 650i-based P5N32-E SLi PLUS.

Now, IF the P5N32-E SLi PLUS overclocks better than the P5N32-E SLi, then that means that the Solid Capacitors matter THAT much in overclocking, because they let the 650i chipset overclock even better than the 680i chipset.

I'm not sure if that's true or not, so I'm gonna stick to the safe side and get the 680i SLi-based P5N32-E SLi.

@Jake "Lenin22" Ratner

Just curious, did Asus send you the Striker, or did you obtain it through retail?

» RE:
From what I've gathered online, and I've researched this board quite a bit, this is a 650i based hybrid. The only resource that mentions this being 680i is FiringSquad. My box doesn't. Asus site doesn't. NewEgg doesn't. My manual doesn't. Only FiringSquad. I love that they know things about this board that Asus doesn't even know!

» P5N32-E SLI PLUS
i thought the P5N32-E SLI PLUS is a hybrid chipset made up of 650i and 590i chipsets? strange to group them under 680i

Nope. There's a 680i version too. I dont know why the name of the board is the same though. All the boards tested were 680i.

so that means in the states the P5N32-E SLI PLUS is a 680i chipset...i bought mine in malaysia so i guess its abit different but tomhardware, hardocp and anandtech and asus's official website stated P5N32-E SLI PLUs are hybrids...so if you are saying P5N32-E SLI PLUS comes in 680i flavors in the states, that's really confusing...

Is it a some-other-region-only version then? Asus does not list a 680i version of the P5N32-E SLI Plus on its USA website (nor on its Global site). It lists it only as a 650i+570. Most other reviewing websites also list it as a 650i hybrid. Neoseeker originally reviewed it as a 680i, but then had to print a correction because they were fooled by a sticker on the box. Did you guys take off the chipset coolers to check the chips on your board during the review? That would solve the problem once and for all.

No, the P5N32E-SLI Plus is both 680i and 650i. It says either 680i or 650i on the box. Definitly strange, but we're not spreading false information.

The P5N32-E SLI Plus is -NOT- a 680i board, it's a 590/650 hybrid. I bought this board and was disgusted with it, immediately throwing it in my closet and swapping it with an EVGA board. Way to go Firing Squad! Way to spread bad information.
