» Thanks FiringSquad
I just wanted to say thanks for including a range of cards in the test, many sites lately only compare cards to their direct competition but that doesn't help readers compare it to what they have.

Out of about 10 sites giving benchmarks for the 2600 that I looked at only two used a range of cards. Sites that give benchmarks for 2 cards are starting to tick me off.

Great article from firing squad,as usual.
Quote From a business perspective, the problem though is that AMD’s got an awful lot of holes to fill between the $151-$399 price points.
They have to make sure they keep some of their dx9 cards on the market for a while like the x1950 pro, xt and xtx. That covers up to the 260 dollars price point and the HD2900xt can be bought for close to 370 dollars, IMO that will have to work for them.

But it won't work for them. People buying now want DX10, the games are coming out in the next few months. Look at how many people are buying 8600GT/GTS cards even though they have lower performance than a 7900GS but cost $50 more. They're eating it up because those are DX10 compatible, even though those cards won't even have the horsepower to play real DX10 games when they come out. Nvida and ATI both need to step up their game and come out with some decent mainstream DX10 cards.

» Ati, what are you thinking?????
Gezus, I feel like Im taking crazy pills every time I read one of these Ati reviews. Why bother releasing a card which, admittedly under performs in many current titles and will no doubt be obsolete by the time future titles are released? How is Ati going to grab the current market with a card that doesn't produce playable frame rates? Does Ati think that Nvidia is sleeping? Nvidia isn't sleeping, it is laying in wait, setting up an ambush.

I think Ati's problem is that whoever is making the important decisions in that company can't see the forest for the trees. It seems to me that Ati is in a fight with Nvidia and the fight is going like this.
Nvidia lines Ati up, pulls back, throws a massive hay-maker and clocks Ati squarely on the chin. Then Ati responds by saying," Hey! I thought we were playing chess?" and proceeds to maneuver themselvs for checkmate all the while Nvidia is lining them up for the next big hit.

Ati should take their superior drivers, (getting them out on time would help) package them with a card that has all the same capacities of an Nvidia card. Price it $50 less and people will buy it just to say they are different than all the mainstream Nvidia-boys. Put a big sticker on the card that says, in bright red lettering, "Not Nvidia! Nany Nany Nany Thbssss!" This worked for AMD (for awhile), the Japanese auto manufacturers and it will work for Ati.
Stop with all the card of the future nonsense and make a card for today.

Simple people that built HTPC setups would love the price of the cards. they would grab the 2400. HTPC setups dont need high end cards. The HDMI audio on it would make people with HTPC setups and HDMI audio setups happy.

Your not gonna see some one with a HTPC setup buy a 2900 just to use it HDMI. These 2400/2600 would be great for those that making a HTPC/Media Center.

I have a X1900XT but it hates Vista and actually downclocks it by 100-200 mhz on the core and memory and unable to touch it's stock speed without crashing. So I am looking into a new video card at some point.

I just think it's silly that we are going back to 128-bit architecture in the video cards when it seems like they are going balls out for Vista and DX10.

The link does not work for me though.
